Asheville Pop Up Halloween Wedding – Cosplay Court

A Night of Whimsy with Vows

The Halloween Cosplay Court: A Pop-Up Wedding Festival Where Goths, Geeks, and Dreamers Actually Get Married

Join us for an unforgettable evening where love meets fantasy in a synchronized celebration of unique vows and costumes.

Maple Grove: The only Venue with a Tim Burton Spot

There’s a particular kind of couple who has spent years quietly wondering if a “real” wedding could ever look like them. Maybe they met at a con. Maybe their first date was a horror movie marathon. Maybe their engagement photos already have more black lace and fog machines than most people’s actual weddings. If that sounds familiar, The Maple Grove at Smith Mill Creek has something built just for you.

On October 31, 2026, from 4:00 to 10:00 pm, our Asheville, NC venue is throwing open the gates for The Halloween Cosplay Court — a pop-up wedding festival where couples don’t just attend a Halloween party in costume. They get married in one.

A Wedding Festival, Not a Themed Add-On

Most “Halloween weddings” are really just regular weddings with a few pumpkins on the tables. Cosplay Court is different by design. This is a full pop-up wedding event built from the ground up for dreamers, creatives, goths, cosplayers, and anyone else who has ever felt like the traditional wedding industry wasn’t quite speaking their language.

Here’s how it works: instead of booking out an entire evening for one couple, we’re opening the venue to several couples at once, each getting married in their own ceremony, surrounded by their own guests, in a setting that’s been transformed for the occasion. Think of it as a shared celebration with a very personal center — you’re not sharing your vows, your photos, or your moment, but you are sharing the night, the atmosphere, and the joyful chaos of a room full of couples who all chose to say “I do” in full costume on the spookiest night of the year.

It’s intimate where it counts and festive everywhere else, and it makes an otherwise once-in-a-lifetime, single-night venue rental accessible in a completely new way.

Enter The Tim Burton Spot

At the heart of the evening is a ceremony location we affectionately call The Tim Burton Spot — a naturally gnarled, canopy-covered corner of the property that already looks like it wandered out of a stop-motion film. Bare branches arch overhead, the light filters through in a way that feels genuinely cinematic, and on any given day it’s beautiful. On Halloween night, after we’ve dressed it with a spooky, atmospheric design touch, it becomes something else entirely.

This is the backdrop couples say their vows against, and it’s also where the after-dark portion of your photo session happens. You can see the space for yourself here: The Tim Burton Spot – Whimsical Charm.

Because the ceremony is a shared, synchronized moment — every couple says their vows at the same time, officiated together — there’s an energy to it that a solo ceremony simply can’t replicate. You’re getting married. So is the couple twenty feet away in matching Victorian mourning wear, or the pair who came as their favorite anime characters, or the two people who just really, really love Halloween. It’s a wedding day and a costume party and a reunion of like-minded people, all at once.

What's Actually Included

This isn’t a bare-bones ceremony rental. Every couple who joins Cosplay Court gets a full wedding experience:

A licensed officiant performs your ceremony as part of the synchronized pop-up vows. You’ll have a daylight photo session to properly showcase your outfits before the sun goes down, followed by a second session after dark in The Tim Burton Spot itself — more than 30 photos between the two. Beyond the main ceremony site, you’ll have access to all four of our ceremony locations for casual portraits throughout the evening.

To actually celebrate, there’s a champagne toast with two commemorative glasses to take home, a 4-inch homemade cheesecake to cut and share, and two of our Special Halloween Drinks (our bartender, currently working in a lab coat, describes the current batch as landing somewhere between nuclear waste and vampire blood — non-alcoholic options are available too). Guests are covered as well, with Halloween-themed heavy hors d’oeuvres that go well beyond the usual finger sandwiches — think veggies, dips, and proteins like Road Kill Kabobs — plus a cash bar for anyone who wants to keep the evening going.

Once the ceremonies wrap, the night shifts into full festival mode in our Pavilion, with a special dance playlist (yes, you can request songs — please do, especially if you’d like to hear something other than “Monster Mash” and the “Transylvania Twist”), a roaming photographer catching candid moments all evening, and a costume contest for the best looks of the night.

You can come as a couple, or bring up to ten of your closest friends and family to be part of it. Space is limited, since this is a real venue on a real night, not an open-ended event.

Come In Costume — That's the Point

Unless you’ve booked our top-tier package, full costume is expected, not optional. This is a wedding built around the idea that your outfit is the design concept — the venue, the lighting, and the photography are all built to make that outfit look incredible. A touch-up station is available in the Bridal Suite for last-minute makeup fixes, but the expectation is that you arrive fully in character, ready for both the daylight and after-dark photo sessions.

That commitment is exactly what makes the photos from this event so different from a typical wedding gallery. Bare branches, string lights, lanterns, fog, and full cosplay under a Halloween night sky isn’t a look you can recreate at a conventional venue — it’s the entire reason this event exists.

Weather Isn't a Dealbreaker

Asheville in late October can go either way, so we’ve planned for it. If it’s cold, a tented area with heaters is available, along with the Bridal Suite for warming up. If it rains, you’ve got shelter options between the Pavilion, the tent, and the Bridal Suite — the night goes on regardless of what the sky decides to do.

Parking is also handled thoughtfully. If you’re planning to drink, we strongly recommend rideshare. If you do drive, there’s a designated parking area with a shuttle driver to get you back to your vehicle safely at the end of the night.

Reserve Your Spot

Cosplay Court only happens once a year, on the one night it makes sense — and space is genuinely limited, since this is a single evening shared across a handful of couples rather than an open-ended venue rental. If you’ve been picturing a wedding with more fog machine than flower arch, this is the night to claim.

Learn more about the ceremony space at The Tim Burton Spot, then reach out to reserve your date: text 828.230.1700 or email info@maplegrovevenue.com. Tell us who you’re coming as — we can’t wait to see it.

Drive Personal Growth in a Unique Wedding Venue

We are seeking a dynamic Sales and Marketing Lead to elevate our brand and expand our reach in the micro wedding and elopement market.

An Exciting Career Opportunity

Sales and Marketing Lead

Asheville, NC

Join our team to lead innovative marketing strategies and drive sales for our unique wedding venue. Responsibilities include developing marketing campaigns, managing client relationships, and enhancing brand visibility. Qualifications: Proven experience in sales and marketing, excellent communication skills, and a passion for the wedding industry.

The Job Description:

Sales & Social Media Lead — The Maple Grove at Smith Mill Creek (Asheville, NC)

Job type: Commission only

Location: Asheville area, North Carolina.

Compensation: Aggressive commission structure — realistic six figures within eighteen months to two years for the right person. Potential of rapid advance to title of Vice President.

The Role

The Maple Grove at Smith Mill Creek (Venue) is launching in the Asheville area Fall of 2026, and we’re hiring one person to run our social media, sales and to bring in our first weddings, elopements, and events. You’d own the front of the house: the content people see, the emails they send, the sales consultations, tours they take, and assist with contracts they sign.

We’re being upfront — we’re just launching and don’t have clients or income yet. That’s exactly why we need someone who can build an audience and turn it into bookings. If you do that well, you’ll be one of the highest-paid people in the Asheville wedding scene inside of a year.

About the venue

The Maple Grove at Smith Mill Creek isn’t trying to be every venue. We sit next to a beautiful creek, cap weddings at around 50 guests on purpose, and have four completely distinct ceremony sites on one property — a Japanese garden with a vine-covered moon gate arch, an ornate wrought iron gazebo next to the creek in a grove of maple and weeping cherry trees, a pergola surrounded by ferns, and what we call the Tim Burton Spot (twisted trees, hanging vines, spooky charm, the whole thing) plus other perks.

The property was designed by a wedding photographer, so every angle was built to shoot. We’ve already hosted a few weddings and elopements (including Halloween), and we’re wide open to themed and non-traditional ceremonies — forest woodsy, Hindu, fantasy, off-kilter, you name it. Couples who want their wedding to look like every Pinterest board don’t usually find us. The ones who do tend to fall hard.

Reviews call us “Asheville’s best kept secret” or “Asheville’s Hidden Gem.” Your job is to make sure that part stops being true.

What you’d actually do

  • Run our Google Business page, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and Pinterest day to day — strategy, content, shooting, editng, posting, building community within our unique branding.
  • Shoot and edit your own content (Reels, stories, behind-the-scenes, styled shoots, real events, testimonials)
  • Handle lead on client conversations from first inquiry to signed contract
  • Run venue tours and host open houses
  • Book weddings and elopements (our bread and butter), plus corporate events, retreats, and parties
  • Build relationships with planners, photographers, florists, and the rest of the Asheville vendor community
  • Work closely with the owners on branding and core concepts

What we need from you

  • You live in or near Asheville. This is not a remote job. You’ll be at the venue regularly.
  • At least 5 years actually running social media — not as a side project,or verify your current SM success.
  • A following you can show us. Send the handles, the numbers, the engagement and growth. We want to see the work.
  • Direct experience in weddings or events. This isn’t a market you learn on the fly. If your background is in retail or tech or restaurants, this isn’t the right fit.
  • You can carry a sales conversation and close. You’re comfortable talking money.
  • You can write, shoot, and edit on your own. No team to lean on yet.
  • You’re organized enough to run a pipeline without being chased.

What you’ll have to work with

We cover the full Adobe Creative Cloud suite (Photoshop, Premiere, Express, the works) and CapCut Pro. You won’t be paying for your own tools.

The honest pitch

The downside: no salary while we’re getting off the ground. If you’re already booked solid where you are, this probably isn’t your move.

The upside

We’re offering a high commission rate on every booking you close, no cap on what you can earn, and the chance to build something from day one in one of the best wedding markets in the Southeast. As we hit volume, this role grows — base pay, a team under you, and a real seat at the table are all available.

How to apply

Send a short note to info@maplegrovevenue.com with:

  1. Links to social accounts you’ve grown — yours or clients’
  2. A wedding or event you booked or marketed and what the result was
  3. Why you want to do this with us instead of where you are now

No cover letters in the traditional sense. Tell us something real.

Are you the One?

  • Who can create a strong social media presence and knows how to grow a following and community online?
  • Who is innovative and enjoys making creative content?
  • Who is a self-starter and highly motivated?
  • Who understands branding and consistent image portrayal?
  • Who enjoys challenges, like taking a start-up company and elevating it to success?
  • Who can negotiate and close sales contracts?

  • Who would like to grow their own income to six figures annually within two years?
  • Who wants to become an integral part of a company quickly achieving VP status through proving their value to the brand?

Why a Micro Wedding Costs Less Than You Think

Why a Small Wedding Costs Less Than You Think (Even at $236 Per Person)

Social media is having a moment with wedding budget breakdowns right now — and honestly, we love the transparency. Couples deserve to know what they’re getting into. But as we’ve been watching these viral posts make the rounds, we kept noticing something: the numbers are terrifying if you’re planning a traditional 150-person reception, but they actually make our case beautifully for couples considering an intimate wedding of 50 or fewer guests.

Let’s talk real numbers.

Over $107,000. For a wedding that, based on industry norms, likely includes 150–200 guests.

That’s roughly $537–$716 per guest when you do the math.

Another viral post confirms this general range, citing the national average at $30,000–$35,000 for more budget-conscious couples — which still assumes a guest list in the 100–150 range. One popular budget-vs-guest-count chart puts a mid-range wedding for 150 guests at $30,000–$60,000. A luxury version? $45,000–$90,000.

What Social Media Says a “Normal” Wedding Costs

A widely-shared 2026 wedding cost breakdown has been making the rounds on Instagram and TikTok. Here’s what it claims the average couple spends:

This is insanity on steroids, isn't it?

Now Let’s Look at What a Small Wedding Actually Costs

Here’s where the math gets interesting — and where we’d love to reframe how you’re thinking about this.

At The Maple Grove, our Complete Asheville Destination Wedding Package for up to 50 guests is $11,800 all-in. That includes:

  • All-day venue access at our stunning West Asheville garden property
  • Professional photographer (6 hours)
  • Officiant
  • Bartender
  • On-site coordinator and full staff
  • Tables, linens, plates, silverware, and glassware
  • Chairs for ceremony and reception
  • Reception tent
  • Bridal suite
  • Shuttle, remote parking, and security
  • Multiple ceremony site options (Japanese Garden, Gazebo, Pergola, Tim Burton Spot, and more)
  • Vendor consultation and timeline planning

What’s left for you to arrange?

Catering and food, florals, decorations, hair and makeup — the personal touches that make your wedding yours.

Let’s say you add:

  • Catering for 50 guests: ~$5,000–$8,000
  • Florals: ~$1,500–$3,000
  • Hair + Makeup: ~$500–$1,000
  • Decorations: ~$300–$1200

Realistic all-in total: $19,000–$25,000

The “Cost Per Person” Myth

Yes — $11,800 for 50 guests works out to $236 per person for our package alone. Compare that to $100/person for a “low-budget” large wedding, and it can feel more expensive.

But here’s what that math misses entirely:

Your total out-of-pocket is dramatically lower.

Side by Side Comparison

Large Wedding (150 guests, mid-range) Maple Grove Intimate Wedding (50 guests)
Venue $8,500 included
Planner $12,000 included
Photographer $7,000 included
Officiant $750 included
Bartender market rate included
Coordinator + Staff market rate included
Rentals (tables, chairs, linens) $8,000–$13,000 included
Tent $2,000–$5,000 included
Catering (per head) $14,000+ for 150 ~$5,000–$8,000 for 50
Realistic Total $50,000–$107,000+ ~$19,000–$25,000

The savings? Easily $25,000 to $80,000+.

Even compared to the more modest $30,000–$35,000 national average for 100–150 guests, you’re looking at saving $10,000–$15,000 — while getting a more personal, beautiful, stress-free day.

What You’re Really Buying with an Intimate Wedding

The viral budget posts also reveal something else: weddings get expensive fast because of scale. Catering isn’t $14,000 because food is expensive — it’s $14,000 because you’re feeding 150 people. Rentals aren’t $8,000 because tables cost a lot — it’s because you need 150 x 2 (300) chairs, 15 tables, linens for all of them, glassware for everyone.

When you bring your guest list down to 50, you’re not just saving money on headcount. You’re:

  • Cutting catering costs by 60–70%
  • Eliminating the need for a large band or DJ — a playlist and good speakers work beautifully in an intimate garden setting
  • Skipping specialty rentals — our venue comes with everything you need
  • Reducing transportation complexity — we handle shuttle and parking
  • Spending more time with every single guest — because you actually can

The Maple Grove Difference

We’re a one-acre garden venue nestled in West Asheville, two miles from downtown. We’ve designed our packages specifically for couples who want a real wedding — not a scaled-down consolation prize — with up to 50 of their closest people.

Our couples consistently tell us it was the best decision they made. As Samantha E. put it: “Everything was more than I could have imagined… They made everything so easy and stress free.”

If you’ve been scrolling through those social media wedding cost posts feeling overwhelmed, we want you to know: there’s another way. A beautiful way. A way that doesn’t require going into debt for a single day.
